How Long Is a Typical Office Visit?
The first visit includes an initial exam to help determine the cause of your pain and how to best treat it. It will most likely also include your first treatment and generally takes about an hour all together. Subsequent visits will last anywhere from 15-25 minutes depending on the necessary treatment.

How often will I need to get adjusted?
Treatment frequency will vary based on your goals, the severity of your condition, and if it’s a chronic condition. Typically, our patients experience some relief after the initial visit, but correcting the root cause of the pain can take longer. Chronic conditions such as back pain or arthritis pain require an ongoing treatment plan and generally take longer to heal than an acute problem. You will get a customized treatment plan to care for you and provide the best results.

What should I wear to my appointment?
When visiting a chiropractor as a patient, it’s best to wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothing. This will allow the chiropractor to easily access the areas of your body that need to be examined and treated. Avoid wearing clothes with zippers, buttons, or belts that may restrict movement or cause discomfort during the appointment. It’s also a good idea to remove any jewelry or accessories that could get in the way.

What will the first visit be like?
You will be asked to fill out some paperwork, if you haven’t done so online already. Once this is completed and we have the necessary information (like a health insurance card, etc) you will go through an exam by the doctor. He will ask you questions, and have you do simple movements to determine your level of mobility. He will take notes and will help determine the cause of your pain and how best to treat it. After that, you will go into a treatment room and have your first therapeutic session. After that, you will visit with the front desk to schedule your return visit or visits.

Do you take insurance?
Yes, we take most major medical health insurance carriers including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Mass General Brigham, TUFTS, HPHC, and Medicare. Self-pay is an option (major credit cards, cash, and local checks accepted) along with payment via an employer health savings account. See “Pricing” page for additional information.

What causes the “cracking sound?”
When the chiropractic adjustment takes place, it releases the pressure of gas inside the joint capsules and you hear an audible pop. The popping is a combination of the facet joints realigning into their normal position and gas being released from the joints in the spine.

Can a chiropractor help with neck and back pain?
If you suffer from neck, back, or knee pain that has an unexplained cause and not due to advanced osteoarthritis, you may benefit from seeing a chiropractor. Patients who stand to benefit the most from chiropractic care are those who are generally healthy, and who are without advanced joint disease.
